Features

Set up in 1974-76, Balachander TCH College is committed to quality teacher training and has produced over 4500 teachers since inception. The College is located in the very heart of the Bangalore in Shivajinagar. The college offers excellent training for aspiring teachers backed by superior features and a committed and dedicated team of faculties.


Training Medium and intake

The College imparts training in English and Kannada and offers two-year course in TCH training for Women. The intake for an academic year currently stands at 90 with 60 seats reserved for English medium students and 30 for Kannada medium students.


Attendance

90% attendance in compulsory.


Eligibility

Students who have passed 10+2 in English medium with 50% aggregate are eligible for admission.


Distinction

The College is proud of the fact it has an average annual pass percentage of 95-100% with 40-45 distinctions. In the year 2000-01 the college secured 70 distinctions.


Special Features

The College regularly organizes excursions, Co-ordination board visits, Citizen Training Camps etc. to improve the overall personality of its students. The College also regularly charts out various programmes to fight for the cause of society. The College has conducted adult education classes for central jail inmates, Bangalore, classes for disabled children at Spastic Society.

For the students, the College has organized basic Civil Defense Course in Home Guards and Civil Defense, Bungler. The College also encourages its students to participate in National Science Talent Shinpan Exam & won State, District and Talk Level medals. The co-ordination board committee of 1995 from the Education Dept. has appreciated the assignments of our students and our college was placed first in Bungler North District.

Guest Lectures:

The college organizes one guest lecture every month by eminent personalities such as Dr. Yejasuddin, MLC., Dr. R.S. Bhatti, Additional Professor, NIHMANS., Dr.Palaksha, Senior Medical Superintendent, HAL Hospital., Dr. C.R. Chandra Shekar, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry, NIHMANS, Dr. M.S. Talawar, Dept. of Education, Bangalore University etc..


Facilities

The College has most modern Science Laboratory with extensive stock of books, Psychology Laboratory, Educational Technology Room (Audio Visual Aids). Sport Room, SUPW Room etc.
