ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS
We are so used to electrical power, our world would not be a comfortable place to live in without electrical power. Conventional and non-conventional methods are adopted to generate electrical power. Its applications are extensively diverse and influence every aspect of our life. During the course, students are exposed to various aspects of electrical power such as power generation, its transmission & modern techniques for controlling and optimization of the whole process using computer simulation. Students get extensive theoretical and practical exposure in electronics, micro processor & computer simulations in addition to the exposure in areas like high voltage engineering & power system analysis. Future Trends and Developments
Ever increasing demand for the generation &
transmission of large amount of power has resulted in its transmission at
extra high voltages. In developed countries like USA, power transmissions
of high voltages have reached 765 kV to 1500KV system. In our country,
400KV at power systems have already come in to operation & in another
10 years every State is expected to be linked by a national power grid
operating at 400KV or at 800KV. At this juncture, a practicing electrical
engineer or a student of electrical engineering is expected to process a
knowledge of high voltage techniques and should have sufficient back
ground in high voltage engineering. To cope up this requirement, a
separate high voltage laboratory is being set in Electrical Department of
MVJ College of Engineering.
