Background Behind the success of any industrial activity are sound managerial concepts. Industrial Engineering & Management deals with the application of managerial concepts in the effective and efficient running of an industry. The branch is versatile and comprises among other managerial streams, Operations Research, Quality Assurance, Value Engineering, Maintenance Management and MIS. These subjects are integrated under Industrial Engineering Management. The course also covers advanced topics like Supply Chain Management, Technology Management, Managerial Economics, Advanced Financial Management & Advanced Production Planning Control are supplemented with the main curriculum. Scope and importance The increased application of innovative and latest managerial concepts in running an industrial activity has widened the scope of this branch. Change is a constant process in the industry and thus students possessing the requisite skill-sets to keep pace with state-of-the-art technology and methodologies have tremendous scope in the industry.

Increasing competition, complex technological breakthroughs and changing economic scenario have forced the industries to seek to new approaches in managerial methodologies. Our IE&M Department possess the required infrastructure and the right expertise in imparting the same to our students. International Analysis Today, with the concepts of globalization and global village gaining ground, technical advancements have a global perspective. This has resulted in systematic changes in industrial engineering and management cutting across all industries. Our IEM Department understands the importance of adapting to the changing scenario in imparting quality education of global standards. The future The future of Industrial engineers would depend on the options available to them. The fact is, the industry offers innumerable options to them for enhancing their career prospects. Our students are well trained in every facet of engineering and managerial concepts, in addition to strong computer training. All laboratories possess good quality, standard equipment and are manned by well-trained, dedicated and experienced staff. Measures taken to comply with ISO 9002 Recently we have acquired ISO 9002 certification from TUV Rheinland India Pvt. Ltd. Facts that further strengthen our commitment to quality education. All required details and actions are documented and a systematic procedure is adopted in every field like lesson planning, teaching, conducting tests, evaluation, appraisal, purchase, maintenance and house keeping. We are also in the process of getting accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation. Achievements Many of our students have bagged university rankings and gold medals. Our students excel not only in academics but also in other extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Many of our Department students are well placed in reputed companies, some with the assistance of our Placement Department and some on their own. Projects undertaken The students are required to undertake project work during their course of study. They are encouraged work on live projects sponsored by industry thus resulting in enhanced industry-institute interaction. The projects give our students enough practical exposure in addition to the theoretical knowledge imbibed in the department. Facilities The Department possesses excellent infrastructure, which include a Department Library with standard textbooks in engineering, management and related books, national and international journals including CD-ROMs. Also, the Laboratories and well established and spacious and are manned by experienced and qualified staff. Subjects and special features The subjects offered in our Course effectively cater to the needs of the modern industry and have commercial value. The special feature of the department is the exhaustive and intensive training imparted to the students giving them sufficient practical exposure with the required theoretical knowledge. Also classroom teaching has undergone a sea change by introducing innovative methodologies like usage of OHP's multimedia projectors and CD's. Department library Our department houses a good library available with standard textbooks in engineering, management and related books, national and international journals including CD library. Extra curricular activities Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities like sports, seminars, competitions and cultural events. |
