The scope and importance of IT related disciplines are not longer a mystery. IT is going to be the dominant force to reckon with in the immediate future and for a long time to come.

Current trends, developments and analysis

IT is switching to component-based application developments in all areas of operations. Presently Artificial Intelligence and Robotics are key areas of research and development throughout the world. Internet and Internet related applications are the defacto standard of industry today. Hence web enabling an application has become a must, in comparison to the desktop world. Analyzing the situation, we have decided to provide software manpower to the entire globe, which is reliable, of high quality and fault tolerant.

Future prospects

At present the software industry is undergoing a structural change so as to become one of the most stable of all industries. As a result presently there is a slight slowdown in the overall show, which is transient in the ultimate run. All technologies are getting stabilized like this only. There is a tremendous prospect for the software industry in the years to come.

Department - Features

Strengths

The department has faculty strength of 15 fully qualified and experienced personnel with academic and varied industrial experience. People who have served in the industry are given preference in the appointment.

Laboratories

We have a total of five explicitly competent and fully equipped computer labs, suitable to train our students right from semester one to the final semester, including Multi media and Internet labs.

Measure taken to comply with ISO 9001, Other Quality Norms

The college has acquired ISO 9001 in the last fall itself. The college is actively engaged in the process of getting Accreditation for all the departments.

Achievements

Every academic year MVJCE, Department of CSE, is producing 70 to 80 high quality engineering graduates who get absorbed in industries, academic fields, research and development, higher studies in Management Sciences etc, in and around the globe.

Projects undertaken

On a regular basis for the past several years our students are getting opportunities to do projects at organizations like ITI and NAL. Students have come out with break thorough projects from ISRO and HAL. Students also get opportunities to do their projects in public organizations like the software giants Wipro, Infosys etc.

Seminars and Guest Lectures

Experts from industry as well as R&D conduct Seminars and Guest Lecturers twice every semester. Dignitaries like Dr. P.P.Nageswara Rao of RSSC, ISRO Bangalore, Mr. Madhu Mohan Reddy, of Oracle Corporation, USA had come over here to deliver seminars and symposia on subjects like Remote Sensing and its application in GIS, evolution of database development from procedural to object oriented etc.

Facilities

MVJCE provides excellent educational facilities for the students with a very good environment to match. Department of CSE/ISE has well furnished faculty rooms and a separate cabin for the HOD. MVJCE also has high quality canteen, a big library and separate hostel facilities for boys. Girls hostel is under construction.

Tie ups and strategic alliances, if any

MVJCE has plans to have tie-ups with foreign Universities mainly from USA and Europe. Tie-ups with prominent software industries in and around Bangalore are under negotiations, for promoting state of the art technology exposure to the students.

Subjects and special features

The subjects taught are as per the VTU curriculum. We have tie-ups with the major software industrial giants like IBM India, Borland India, Rational Rose India etc, for conducting special training programs to our students either in the campus or in their premises to train the students on the latest trends and technological advances so as to make them fit to be highly productive as soon as they move out of the campus.

Department Library

We have the entire collection of prescribed text books as well reference books of the VTU curriculum available in our department library, apart from national and international IT related magazines and publications for our students ready reference.

Extra curricular activities

We encourage our students to participate at the national level seminars and symposiums, quizzes, etc. Students are permitted to participate in sports and games events and festivals at various levels anywhere in India. In our college we have a seasoned festival of culture and sports namely "Swayam", where our students express themselves in ways miraculous.
