DEAN, DEPT. OF MCA - DR. S.M. SHARMA
Prof. Sharma holds B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Sc. from
the Utkal University and Ph.D. from the University of Poona in
mathematics. He has also attended training programs in mathematics and
management at the Patna University Patna, IISc Bangalore, IIT Chennai, IIT
Mumbai, XLRI Jamshedpur, IAMR Delhi, ITM Mussoorie and IIQM Jaipur.
After serving in Orissa Education Service as a Lecturer in Mathematics
from 1966-69, he joined the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO)
in 1969 and served in different capacities at Delhi, Pune and Bangalore
before retiring in 2004 as a Director in the grade of Scientist G from
its corporate headquarters at Sena Bhawan, New Delhi.
While in DRDO, he has functioned as a Regular/Visiting Faculty for its
graduate, post-graduate and other training courses conducted at the
Institute of Armament Technology, Pune and the Institute of Technology
Management, Mussoorie. For most part of his career with DRDO, he has
functioned as a systems analyst and carried our various studies for the
benefit of the Armed Forces in the areas of performance
evaluation/cost-effectiveness/optimal deployment/etc of weapon systems,
and for the top management of DRDO in the area of personnel management.
He has published/presented 20 research papers in national/international
journals and seminars/symposia/workshops. He is a life member of the
Aeronautical Society of India, Systems Society of India, OR Society of
India and Orissa Mathematical Society.
His specializations include numerical mathematics and computer simulation.
