Background

We are living in a period which has witnessed information revolution. The Information Technology is expanding at a very fast rate. The range of tasks that can be handled most economically by computer operations is likely to grow rapidly. In addition to the hardware, field of software engineering is also poised for very rapid growth. There is a large demand of hardware and software professionals in our country and abroad. A vast potential for further development and research exists in this area.

To strengthen the expertise and capability available in this field, the M.Tech. course was started. The post-graduates of this course will be found useful not only for Indian industries and research organizations but also for the international market. It has been projected that Indian industry is set for very rapid growth in this area and trained persons with sophisticated skills will be needed in large numbers to meet increasing international level of competition.

 

Scope and Importance

 

 

Careers within computing are open, including as an IT consultant, project manager, system designer, networking engineer and systems analyst. These postgraduates may also pursue research or higher studies leading to doctorate in engineering.

 

Department

 

Our Department of Computer Science has started from last year a M.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering from last year. The program is conducted in a sophisticated environment using best-in-class facilities.  The department has already installed 40 state-of-the-art Pentium IV Computer Systems for this purpose.  These systems have round the clock internet connectivity through leased communication lines.  

 

 

 

 

Our Department of Computer Science has a staff strength of 27 members in teaching and 7 members in non-teaching area. The department regularly organises technical seminars and workshops to benefit students and staff members.  Alliances have already been made with leading multinationals and Indian software companies to facilitate the project work of our students during the fourth semester of the course.  The department is also in the process of roping in eminent scholars and researchers in the field of software to further enrich our M.Tech in Computer Science program.
