Swayam 2000. Memories to cherish

The charm, the events of the past leave besides its memories and programmes, and the breeze of time carries it along.

Swayam 2000 brought with itself memories to cherish. It was spring time again. After days of intense hardwork, the stage was set for the event to happen.

And finally the long awaited day had arrived with great pomp and posture. The chief guests for the auspicious were Dr. U.R. Rao, Chairman, Space Commission and Chairman of Advisory Committee of MVJ College of Engineering; Dr. M.J. Mohan, Secretary, Venkatesha Education Society and Mr. Balveera Reddy, Vice Chancellor, Visveswariah Technological University.

The felicitation of the dignitaries and lighting of the lamp marked the beginning of the festival and then started the most awaited events. The audience were rocked by the tunes of the past and the present, presented admirably by the DJ. There were events like quiz, challenging the intelligence of students. Events like Hindi and Kannada Antakshari, Regional Music, Western Acoustics tested the vocal chords of participants. And then there events like mad ads which gave the audience a lot to cheer about.

The magnum opus of the events was the Fashion Show which attracted students from all over Bangalore. This event was widely broadcast by a popular Kannada Channel-Ushe T.V.

Spring time is here again. The SWAYAM fever is back and the students of MVJCE are live and kicking. SWAYAM 2001 promises lots more. Be a part of our SWAYAM family.

Rendezevos with the innerself

Since the days of yore man has recognized and nurtured the two basic categories of human thought processes namely analysis and creativity, which have been, proved in recent times by scientists as being predominantly left-brain and right-brain activities respectively. We all realize and believe in the limitless potential of the human mind which can be realized only through the proper harnessing of the capabilities of both the above mentioned categories of human thought processes.

Even in these days of astounding achievements in the field of science and technology ;tremendous emphasis being laid on these areas; the yearning for recreation, art and other such vents for human creativity has not diminished in the least. Why, even science demands creativity in every discovery and invention!!!

Swayam aims to don the role of such a creative vent for the wide range of talents that students possess but hitherto have not been able to do justice to. It aims to showcase these talents and achieve the perfect blend of both sides of the powerhouse that is the human mind.

Swayam - The concept of the rendezvous with the inner-self was first conceived and materialized in the year 1995. It went by the name of harbinger (not to be confused with hamburger). From there on it made rapid strides, as its canvas grew progressively larger by the year. It was re-christened as Swayam to lend it an Indian flavour and because it truly reflected what the event really stood for-realization of ones own potential (Swayam in Sanskrit meaning oneself).

In the arboreal setting of Whitefield, with the religious backdrop of BRINDAVAN, the name by which SAI BABAS ashram goes by; and the symbol of the states technological prowess-the International Tech Park equally proximal, Swayam presents a perfect setting for painting colorful hues of talent over a period of two days.

It is only natural that such a widely attended event has an equally wide coverage in the media.

SWAYAM is covered by most of the popular newspapers in the city like,

The Times of India,
Indian express,
Asian age etc.

USHE T.V covered the magnum opus of our fest last year namely the fashion show in its entirety for almost an hour in the visual media.

It follows that the coverage this time will be still more comprehensive with the event being publicized on the college website which goes by the name of www.mvjeducation.com/swayam2001 and also on www.milindesai.coolmb.com which is regularly updated to reflect the developments made in the context of the conduct of the event.

The main event of this years SWAYAM-2001 will be a fusion show by one of the leading bands in this field-ANTARAGNI.

This same band played before Bryan Adams in his recent show in Bangalore. The band comprises of many bright and talented artists from all over Karnataka.

Theirs is a Carnatic based fusion band. The lead singer and player Raghupathi Dixit has many laurels to his credit. This event will be held on the last day of the fest 7th July, 2001

Love Is Life

I START THE DAY WITH UR NAME
END THE DAY WITH UR NAME
I FEEL U IN MY FINGERS
I FEEL U IN ALL CORNERS OF MY HEART
I FEEL UR LOVE IN MY HEART
I FEEL UR LOVE IN MY TOES
I FEEL U ALL AROUND ME
I DREAM OF U EVERYDAY
I THINK OF U EVERY MOMENT
I DIE TO HEAR UR VOICE
I DIE TO TALK TO U
I DIE TO SPEAK TO U
I DIE TO SPEND SOME MOMENTS TOGETHER
I DIE TO SEE UR SMILE

But whether this world is there Or not, u will always be there in my heart
