Programme of Study

The programme of MVJ Institute of Nursing leads to the Diploma in General Nursing Midwifery/Psychiatric Nursing. This is a three year course recognised by the Government of Karnataka, Karnataka Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi. The Programme is designed to prepare students to become professional nurses and nursing practitioners. After successful graduation from this course, the students can take up nursing positions in hospitals, nursing services in communities and can also proceed to do post graduate study in nursing.
Syllabus
M.V.J. Institute of Nursing follows the syllabus prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi.
Examination
- The student will be eligible for examination if she/he has completed not less than eleven months of the course and her/his total performance has been satisfactory during that period.
- The student will be eligible if she has attended 75% of the formal instructions given on each subject and 75% field experience separately during the year.
- The Diploma will not be awarded until the student completes his or her field work.
- The examinations will be graded on the aggregate marks of the three years programme as follows.

Discipline

Students should maintain high discipline at the Institute, Clinical Areas and Hostels. Strict observation is maintained on the conduct of the students
A minimum attendance of 75% in every subject is mandatory for all areas of training.
Community Health Nursing Service
The students are given training in Antenatal/Postnatal care including conducting of child delivery at Channasandra and surrounding villages near Sathya Sai Baba Ashram, White Field and Kadugodi Village�s Primary Health Centre. They are also given training in Pulse Polio/Vaccination/Mother and Child Health (MCH programme) and Under Five Clinics. The students are given 1 month training in the first year and two months training during their 3rd year in these areas.
