Biotechnology is an extremely promising discipline, which encompasses biological science and technology for the development and utilization of biological processes to develop novel products for the benefit of society. Biotechnology provides ample scope for creating sound institutions based on human intelligence. Successful organization in the field of biotechnology possesses the right combination of technology, and technical and managerial expertise.
Some of the modern applications of biotechnology are the transfer of novel genes from one organism into another in r-DNA program (in genetic engineering) to create rare and valuable vaccines and life saving medicines, to change hereditary traits of plants and animals, to change microorganisms to put to use their extreme potentialities at molecular level to evolve rare qualities in r-DNA technology in all fields of bio-science.
