Training

The trainees are provided adequate teaching experience. They are encouraged to study the records and registers maintained in the schools. They are encouraged to arrange and participate in extra curricular activities of the practising school. In addition, they are also compulsorily made to observe lessons of other trainees and maintain observation records. The trainees are provided opportunities to teach students of all classes - 1st to 7th standards. These apart, the trainees are introduced to Activity Lesson/Correlated Lesson/Multi-class Teaching/Single Teacher School Training etc. to give them complete exposure and prepare them for varied career options in the future. The medium of instruction in TCH programme are English and Kannada.

Performance Observance

Apart from the trainees put to intensive and extensive teaching practice, their performance will be observed and guided simultaneously by various methods. Teacher educators and observers monitor the practice sessions effectively. Group discussions, analysis of the performance is freely done in open class forums whereby every trainee is immensely benefited. Trainees are encouraged to prepare self-training material as done under Comprehensive Access Primary Education (CAPE) and to administer the material and to make self evaluation. Each trainee student of 1st year has to teach 52 lessons and those of IInd year has to teach 65 lessons and observe 80 lessons of other trainees.

Internal Assessment

Internal Assessment marks are 100 in 1st year for five subjects -20 each for every professional subject. Internal Assessment marks are 100 in IInd year for five subjects - 20 each for every professional subject.

The students of the colleges under the Venkatesha Education Society have regularly performed well in the examinations. Over 90% pass results are registered in the examinations in the previous years and more than 30% of the students have passed with distinctions. There is a programmed effort to coach weak students to catch up with the others which have brought about quality change in the results.

Special Features of Training

Apart from providing extensive facilities within the premises in each college, the students are exposed to other training facilities as well. Citizenship Training Camps (where the students are initiated to human values and patriotism), Workshops/Orientation Programmes (where students get in-depth knowledge in specific aspects of teaching); specially conducted educational visits to Institutions of mentally disabled children such as Spastic Society and JSS School for Disabled, women inmates in prisons, help students acquaint themselves with various challenges and aspects of teaching. Our students have also participated actively in NCERT course conducted at New Delhi. Excursions which are of both recreational and educational values are routinely conducted.

Computer Orientation

Adequate facilities have been established in the colleges to expose the students into use of computers as a method for teaching and curriculum planning. The state of the art facilities with experienced tutors enable the students to take the leap forward in tune with the emerging technologies.
