Balachander D.Ed College for Women was started in the year 1976. This institution from the year of its inception is proud of producing more than ten thousand teachers from its humble and modest inception, this college has grown today into a mighty institution to preserve, promote and propagate true knowledge and culture. The outstanding performance and valuable service of the college in training the future teachers have brought many laurels and appreciations from the society. The department of public instruction accorded permanent reorganization to Balachander D.Ed College for Women in the year 1990-1993.

The National Council for the Teacher Education (NCTE), a statutory body of Central Government has reorganized this college. The management is doing its best to improve the infrastructure of the college in accordance with norms laid down by NCTE. This institution imparts diploma in education with two medium of instruction -  English and Tamil.

Thanks to the encouragement and kindly constant guidance provided by NCERT, NCET, DSERT and DIET have helped the all round development of the institution.
