MVJ Polytehnic offers full time Diploma Course in six leading branches of Engineering. These course are recongised by the Technical Board of the State of Karnataka, viz. The Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka and approved by AICTE. The time duration of the course is three years. (Six semesters)

Syllabus
The Syllabus followed for Diploma Course has been prepared and constantly upgraded by Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka. The syllabus for Diplma Programmes in Engineering have been formulated and updated from time to time to give a thorough state-of-the-art technical knowledge in all aspects of Engineering. The theory and practical subjects concerned will enable the students to develop written and oral communication skills as well as technical skills in specific areas of planning, equipment design and development, testing and inspection, maintenance and repair and servicing of machineries / systems. Copies of detailed syllabus are available in the library and Department Office for reference.
Eligibility Criteria for Diploma Admission
The eligibility criteria for admission to first year diploma courses is a pass in SSLC/10th Standard with a minimum 35% marks each in Science & Mathematics for all categories of students.
Admission Procedure
Application in the prescribed form with photo should be sent to the Principal, MVJ Polytechnic accompanied by photo copies of all testimonials like
- SSLC / 10th Standard Marks Card
- Transfer Certificate
- Study Cenrtificate (For Karnataka student only)
- Eligibility Certificate (For Non-Karnatka students & students from other than Karnataka State Board)
The original certificate should be produced at the time of admission. Seats will be alloted pureply on the basis of merit only.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Semester Examination are conducted at MVJ polytechnic for our students as per BTE norms and procedures, odd semester examinations will be held during Nov/Dec and even semester examination during April/May, every year.1) For passing, students should obtain minimum 35% in each of the theory subject in Board Examination and should get minimum 45 marks including internal marks. Similarly for practical subject 50% in Board Examination and 60 marks including internal marks
2) Students who fails in more than four subjects both in odd and even semesters put together are not eligible to go to next academic year (Promotion from II semester and IV semester to V semester)
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT MARKS
Maximum of 25 marks will be awarded in each subject.
For theory subjects, three internal tests are conducted.
For practical subjects, two internal tests are conducted.
Out of 25 marks, 20 marks for academic performance and 5 marks for attendance will be awarded.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT
Students should have minimum of 75% attendance in each subject. If not, students will be detained and would not be permitted for the final Board Examinations. To complete the course, the detained students have to be readmitted in the particular class.
THE STUDENT DISCIPLINE
MVJ Institutions have a very high degree of reputation in the country for student discipline and decorum. The students are expected to follow a code of conduct and are required to be smartly dressed. Ragging in any form is prohibited and any rare occurrence will lead to summary and immediate dismissal of the student.
ACADEMIC TERMAcademic programme is based on semester pattern with term holidays in between semesters. Students admitted late will be given special attention to make up for missed classes and courses. Outstation students can avail Railways/Air Travel concession within India, once in a academic year to visit their home.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONThe medium of instruction for the entire course will be English only.
PROJECT WORK
With the guidance of well experienced senior staff, the students do many innovative projects as part of their curriculum and build useful devices and models. This is encouraged by our Polytechnic to inculcate in the students the sprite of innovation and application of technology, which will give them a solid foundation of confidence in their career, in future.
